Siberian Forest Cat

They might be called Siberian Forest cats, but their ancestry can be traced back to Asian Bukharian Cats of ancient times.

The Siberian Forest cats were the first ever cats recognized by the Soviet Union itself. These cats were officially recognized in 1992.

The Siberian forest cats are also related to the Neva Masquerade. However, people believe Neva Masquerade appeared at least a century before the Siberian Forest Cat.

Siberian Forest cats are popularly known as snow cats. These cats can survive in extremely cold temperatures up to -10 degrees Celsius.

Siberian Forest cats are one of the heaviest cat breeds. It is believed that the cat's fur contributes to 40% of the cat’s whole weight.
