practicing vet covering all facets of veterinary medicine including a 3-year stint in large animal medicine in the Yorkshire Dales James Herriot Country Since then small animal practice has taken me all over the world working with veterinary colleagues both specialists and those with special interests in dermatology small animal medicine orthopaedic surgery and ophthalmology in small animal practices in London Yorkshire and Sydney treating all manner of species from Russian Hamsters to Highland Cattle My particular interest is Ophthalmology please see the Eyes page I have practised in the area of veterinary ophthalmology for nearly 15 years now I am over the moon to be in Prospect and to have the opportunity to use all my veterinary skills and experience to provide a progressive as a veterinary surgeon in South Australia Although he is accredited as an Advanced Practitioner in Veterinary Ophthalmology in the UK this is not a recognised category of registration in any State or Territory of Australia and he is not registered in South Australia as a specialist on the specialist register in the specialty of veterinary ophthalmology therefore is not able to be referred to in South Australia as a Specialist or Ophthalmologist Daniel developed a love for animals early in life as he grew up on a hobby farm surrounded by animals of all sorts Daniel s father is also a veterinarian and he remembers spending many afternoons watching his Dad at work Daniel graduated from the University of Queensland in 2005 He then spent a year working for his father in his hometown Toowoomba before heading off to England for a year He moved to Adelaide in 2011 and has been working here ever since During this time he has continued developing his skills across the board in small animal practice In 2021 he completed an Ophthalmology in Small Animal Practice course from Massey University Building on this in 2023 he commenced his studies in Small Animal Ophthalmology to earn his GPCert in Small Animal Ophthalmology postgraduate qualification Daniel and his wife are very pleased to call Adelaide home We are so delighted that Jen joined us in February 2023 Her wealth of knowledge and experience has been a great addition to our veterinary team On top of her general practice experience Jen also has a post-graduate membership in Emergency and Critical Care Jen gained her veterinary qualifications in 2008 after graduating from the Royal Veterinary College in London Following this she moved to Darwin and spent six years developing her skills in small animal medicine and surgery whilst adjusting to the tropical climate In 2014 she moved to Adelaide and pursued her passion for veterinary emergency and critical care She undertook further study to gain post-graduate qualifications in the field Jen also worked at the University of Adelaide for several years where she thoroughly enjoyed teaching future veterinary students Her special interests are emergency and critical care surgery and pain management She has a fairly chaotic household with two young children one dog three cats a bearded dragon two horses and an endlessly patient husband Richard was born and raised in Adelaide making him our only veterinarian who is a native His passion for animals led him to pursue veterinary medicine at the University of Adelaide graduating in 2015 Since then he s honed his skills while working in small animal practices in Adelaide We were fortunate to welcome Richard to Paws at Prospect in 2024 He has spent time with us before as a locum veterinarian in 2022 We re thrilled to have him on board as a permanent team member He is passionate about small animal medicine and freshwater and marine aquarium fish Outside of work Richard enjoys spending quality time with his family and friends or tinkering away on a vintage car restoration project Richard and his young family share a home with a menagerie of companions Stella the loyal Labrador keeps him company alongside Mittens the cat Their lively crew also includes a rabbit chickens an array of tropical fish and even a beehive Nicole has been a Veterinary Nurse for over 15 years and has a diverse nursing background having worked in the outback along the coast and around the city She graduated from TAFE in 2015 to gain her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing Nicole now spends most of her time in a management role at Paws at Prospect Vet but she still enjoys cuddling patients in the waiting room At home Nicole has a much-loved budgie called Teddy Tegan s love of animals came from growing up on her family farm She first started nursing in 2012 and has worked in both general and speciality practices gaining her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in 2014 In her spare time Tegan enjoys spending time with her husband and their young children Her family also includes an energetic Border Collie Ellie Isobel graduated from TAFE with a Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing in late 2019 and has been a valuable member of our team ever since She is an AVNAT-registered nurse and furthered her qualifications in 2024 by completing a Diploma in Veterinary Nursing Isobel s passion is surgical nursing and anesthesia She is also our Puppy School Coordinator who organises and assists in our classes Isobel has a beautiful dog Bear and in her free time she can be found forcing people to look at photos of him Lindsay has been a nurse for over 12 years with her Veterinary Nurse Certificate IV qualification She has enjoyed working in both general and speciality practices as well as city and rural practices Her favourite part of the job is nursing hospital patients and being a part of orthopaedic surgeries At home she is kept busy looking after her young son rescue kelpie golden retriever two horses and a cat Diandra is an AVNAT registered veterinary nurse and completed her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing through TAFE SA in 2012 and has been working in the veterinary industry since She has experience in general practice animal shelter medicine as well as working in a large veterinary hospital She has a passion for animal behaviour and low-stress handling As well as a special interest in exotic pets anaesthesia and orthopedic surgery Diandra is passionate about all animals and is focused on ensuring she can provide the most up-to-date standards of care as well as advocating for their needs by giving them the time and space to reduce their stress when visiting the vet clinic She spends her spare time fostering animals in need scuba diving rock climbing and caring for her senior Kelpie cross named Eli Mimi completed her studies in 2015 to earn her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing Throughout her career Mimi has had the opportunity to work in various settings including emergency medicine animal shelters and general practice Mimi s love for animals knows no bounds but her heart mainly belongs to cats and rabbits In addition to her impressive nursing skills Mimi is also multilingual She is fluent in English Cantonese and Mandarin and is currently learning Italian Outside of work her passions are travelling and shopping ideally at the same time Brooke has always had a huge passion for all animals great and small She wanted to incorporate them into her work life as much as her home life Brooke started with us as a trainee veterinary nurse while she studied her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing She graduated in December 2023 Prior to this she completed the Certificate II and Certificate III in Animal Studies as well as EA Introductory to Horse Care and Management Certificate In the future she plans to continue her education in Veterinary Nursing At home Brooke has two horses an Appaloosa and a Paint Horse and two kittens with her partner In her spare time she loves to crochet draw and look after her ever-growing collection of plants In her former life Lisa was actually a chef However she decided to change careers to follow her passion and love for animals Lisa has studied Certificate II in Animal Studies and is currently completing Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing She has two Labradors named Layla and Rocco In her leisure time she likes to go camping take her dogs to the beach and she also enjoys being a mum to her two kids In early 2024 Ruby joined us as a trainee while she studies for her Certificate IV in Veterinary Nursing A lifelong love for animals has led Ruby to pursue a career caring for them Growing up she was surrounded by animals and loved visits to the family farm with cattle and sheep Her favourite part of the job is being able to comfort and care for all animals during their visits In her spare time Ruby enjoys camping adventures across the country She currently has a Cavoodle named Rocky two cats and budgies Rocky a senior dog receives plenty of one-on-one attention mostly in the form of cuddles Greyhounds also hold a special place in Ruby s heart as she fosters them until they find their forever homes
