Before we dive deeper into this beautiful breed, here are a few basic overviews of the breed that you should know. 

Parent Breed

By now, we all know that there are two types of dog breeds that make the husky corgi mix, they are Corgi and Husky. And I won’t have to tell you that both these breeds are dominant dog breeds. So this hybrid dog can look like either of its parent breeds. 

The Corgi

There are mainly two types of Corgies that exist, and they are the Cardigan and the Pembroke. While the Cardigan Corgis have tails, the Pembroke one doesn’t. The corgis are short in stature with a cute round butt, known as the “Corgi butt.”

The Husky

These are one of the most popular dog breeds all over the world. So it is obvious why they are the top choice when creating a new designer dog breed. 

Huskies have the most beautiful eyes out of all other dog breeds; along with that, these huskies are extremely loyal to their owners and are very energetic. 

Physical Appearance

When you mix the beautiful and highly energetic character of Huskies with the playfulness of the fluffy Corgis, you get a beautiful mixture of Corgski. 

The dog is inherently intelligent and smart, thanks to the parents, but their husky parents don’t prefer to be left alone. These dogs need a lot of mental and physical stimulus to keep them engaged, or else they get bored. 

Coat

Like both of its parents, the corgi husky mix has a thick coat, like both its parents. The coat is a mixture of heavy double-coated husky and thick water-proof coats of the corgi. The fur length is either medium or long, considering which parent the puppy takes after. 

Colors

Just like the fur length, the color of the coat also depends on which dog breed is dominant in the gene pool. They may be born with a mixture of both dog breeds or one parent as well. 

If the pup takes after the corgi parent, then the coat colors may be fawn, red, sable, or tan. But if the pup takes the color of a Husky, then the colors could be grey, agouti, and black. 

Head And Skull

A corgi husky mix will have a head that is shaped exactly like a fox, with a long and slender snout perfect for foraging. In fact, the skull of a corgi looks exactly like foxes. The skulls of these dogs are wide and flat at the middle of their ears. Horgis also have almond-shaped eyes that are mostly brown or blue, depending on their genetics. The ears are mostly upright, reminiscing of the parent breeds. 

Forequarters And Hindquarters

This is a dog that is generally heavy for its size. The reason behind this is the moderately broad chest taperings that beautifully go down to the dog’s forelegs. While the hindquarters of the dog is powerful enough to propel itself through any terrain.  

Topline

These dogs are not that tall due to their obvious lineage. Therefore, the topline of these dogs is firm and level. However, if you notice your horgi or corgsky, you will notice a small depression just behind the shoulder. This is caused by the heavier neck coat of the creature.

Grooming & Shedding

If you are a first-time dog owner, then you would know that – Dogs shed a lot. And if the breed is a Corgi husky mix, then the shedding can be overwhelming for a first-time dog owner. Both Huskies and Corgis are heavy shedders. 

You need to brush a full grown corgi husky mix or a pup at least twice a day. This way, you can prevent excess fur build-up. 

Also, when you are grooming your dog is a great way to bond with your dog. During shedding season, you need to groom your corgi husky mix on a regular basis. 

Since the Corgi Husky is a mix of two prominent dog breeds, all their characteristics are hard to predict. This beautiful dog breed only requires approximately four baths a year. If you bathe them too much, you will end up stripping up their coat and natural oil from their skin.

Temperament

The First thing that you need to remember that the Corgski or the corgi-husky hybrid is not a purebred, and this is the reason why they display a mixture of temperaments. They are sweet and friendly since both the parent breeds are like that.

These dogs are rarely aggressive or shy, as none of the parents are like that. Rather they are quite friendly with everyone, like their parent breeds, which is why they are not at all great guard dogs. These dogs are a lot spunky and have a lot of personalities. They’re so intelligent that they almost feel like a person, which means it can be fun to give them a more human name, instead of something simple like Sparky. Just don’t use a full name – nobody wants a dog named Alex Lau Kin Ho.

Health Problems

Like any other pure-breed dog, mixed-breed dogs also show or develop some common health problems. But the common health problem that these Corgski might be inherent is obesity, as both the parent breeds gain weight fast. So just feed them high-quality dog food, about 900 calories of Kibble are needed on a daily basis.

And due to the short-legged corgi, they are at high risk of back problems or any other spinal cord problems. Vets usually discourage cross breeding with dog breeds that have short legs, as they are prone to back problems. 

Diet And Exercise

This is essentially a designer hybrid. In other words, pet owners get this breed specifically for aesthetic purposes. As a result, the corgis need to have a specific diet that would help enhance or maintain their amazing features. Before you go ahead, we would like to point out that you need to consult a doctor first in order to understand the dietary needs of your corgi-husky mix. 

However, as a pet parent, I prefer to give my dog a balanced diet that keeps my dog from being underfed or overfed at the same time. Researchers suggest that you should provide your pooch with treats that provide a balanced caloric number. Ideally, your pooch should get 80% of its calories from the kibble you provide and 20% of its calories from the treats.  I prefer giving my pooch treats like Olives, sunflower seeds, tuna, etc. make for amazing treats. However, from time to time, I do give my pooch a small piece of beef jerky.

Corgi-Husky mix is a breed that is known for its voracious diet, so if you do not keep your dog under dietary restrictions, it can gain weight pretty easily. Also, as a pet parent, you should ensure that your dog gets optimal exercise throughout the day. Therefore, if you want your corgi-husky hybrid to be healthy, consider putting it through moderate exercise regimens. This would keep that small doggo heart pumping and will negate the risks of developing obesity and heart problems.

Is A Corgi Husky Mix Right For Me? 

Now that I have laid down everything you need to know, about the corgi husky mix, so now you can make an informed decision about getting one or not. 

This dog breed is a lovable, active, and spunky dog breed. They are very friendly and outgoing, like a Husky but the size of a Corgi. 

The thick and waterproof coat of this dog breed inherited from its parent breed protects them from cold and rainy weather. But these breeds are known to be heavy shredders as well, so regular grooming is required. 

If all these seem too much for you, as a first-time dog owner, then I would suggest you not buy a corgi husky mix. Since you already know how much is a corgi husky mix, they are high maintenance, pricey dog breed, so if you are not up for a challenge, then don’t go for it.
