African Cichlids

African Cichlids are territorial fish so they either need species specific tanks or can be kept with other cichlids. Koi are stunningly colorful fish that grow quite large. Typically kept outdoors in ponds, these fish can live for decades (some koi have been known to live up to 30 years). If you have a pond or space in your backyard, adding some koi is one of the most beautiful ways you can decorate it. These fabulous swimmers are gentle by nature and will eat out of your hand once they get used to you hanging around their habitat.

Pearl Gouramis are beautiful, peaceful fish. They are medium-sized with a pearly appearance and elegant fins. Discus Fish
Discus Fish are also known as the “kings of the aquarium” because they are so vibrant and have such a regal presence. They need specific water conditions, so it’s recommended for an intermediate-advanced keeper to have them. They should be kept in schools and will peacefully swim around the tank.
Platys
Platys are small, brightly-colored fish that do well in tropical fish tanks. One of the great things about platys is how hardy these little guys are – they can survive in many different water conditions as long as their temperature is between 70 and 80°F. This makes them ideal for beginners who might not know as much about what it takes to maintain tropical fish tanks right out of the gate. They may only grow up to three inches long, but don’t let their wide size fool you – Platys add lots of wonderful colors to your tank!
Tetras
Tetras are small, schooling fish that come in a rainbow of colors. They really bring life to an aquarium with their bright colors and active swimming habits. There are many different types of tetras, the most popular being the neon tetra, which has a bright red stripe running through its body. Tetras are easy to care for and like to be in groups, so you can get several in one tank and watch them swim together peacefully. They’re not aggressive or territorial, so they make good community tank mates.
Catfish
Catfish are cool little bottom-dwelling swimmers that add something different to your aquarium. They come in all sorts of sizes and species, with unique patterns and those cool whisker-like barbels (the things coming off their heads). Catfish love cleaning the bottom of tanks because they're scavengers, eating up leftover food bits and other gunk. Most catfish are really peaceful, so they rarely butt their heads with other fish or cause trouble (unless your other fish like hanging out near the bottom — then there might be an issue).
Goldfish
Goldfish are classic, easy-to-care aquatic pets. People love their bright colors and friendly nature. Goldfish are hardy fish that can handle a variety of tank conditions. Goldfish can get pretty big and live for many years — more than 10 in some cases — so they make great long-term friends. Angelfish

Because of this, they are a good option if you’re a beginner or an experienced aquarist who does not want to be dealing with too much stress when taking care of their pet fish. These tropical fishes come in many colors and patterns. With proper care, some angelfish can live up to 10 years or more, depending on the conditions. This is one of the longest lifespans for most freshwater species.
Fancy Goldfish
Fancy Goldfish are known for their unique shapes, long, flowing fins, and bright colors. But fancy goldfish have other special features – like a double tail or bubble eyes –- that common goldfish don’t. They’re not much harder to care for and can live a long time (sometimes up to 15 years or more). They’re also very gentle and peaceful fish, so if you keep them in a nice tank where they can grow large and healthy, they can be great lifetime companions!
Mbuna Cichlids
Mbuna Cichlids are colorful, medium-sized fish from Lake Malawi in Africa. Their bright hues range from electric blues to sunny yellows – that is what they’re famous for. Mbunas are active, social fish, though you should note that these guys can get rather territorial if you keep them in cramped conditions. One thing’s for sure: these fishes love exploring and will often dig around in the sand, adding movement & energy to the aquarium as well.
Convict Cichlids
Convict Cichlids are small, but they’re known for their black and white stripes, which earned them their name. They are tough and easy to care for, which makes them great for both beginners and people who have experience with fish keeping. The Convict Cichlids have a somewhat fierce personality for their size and can be quite territorial, especially when breeding. But that doesn’t change the fact that they’re lively and bring lots of activity to a tank.
Ocellaris Clownfish
Ocellaris Clownfish are small, brightly colored fish with striking orange or white stripes are the famous “Nemo” fish. Clownfish are hardy and do well in aquariums, particularly in saltwater setups. They’re especially fun to watch as they dart in and out of hiding places, making them a great addition to any marine tank. Don't worry you won 't lose them, they generally come out of their hiding places within a few seconds to a minute!
Oscars (Astronotus ocellatus)
Oscars are large, intelligent fish with strong personalities. They can recognize their owners, and some will even bond with you and fetch food. Oscars do live up to 20 years, so they are a long-term commitment. They also require a lot of space and clean water, but if you have what it takes to be Oscar’s owner, their engaging behavior and interactivity make them a truly cool aquatic pet.
Tiger Barbs
Tiger Barbs are active and playful fish that have sharp black stripes down their back. You’ll often find them swimming around the tank as opposed to lounging at the bottom of it. For best results, keep your tiger barbs in groups with an odd number (they like to play-fight, and this way, no single fish becomes too picked on).

Mollies are fun, friendly fish that come in a variety of different colors and patterns, so there’s sure to be one that catches your eye! They’re low maintenance and can adapt well to many different water conditions, which is why they’re a popular choice amongst both beginner and advanced fish owners.
